This guide will take you through the steps to set up your email account in Microsoft Outlook Express version 6.
- Load up Outlook Express 6.
- Click 'Tools' then 'Accounts...'
- An 'Internet Accounts' window will appear.
- Click the 'Add' button then 'Mail...'
- An 'Internet Connection Wizard' window will appear requesting your name.
- Enter the name you wish to appear on your emails into the 'Display name' text field.
- Click the 'Next' button.
- An 'Internet Connection Wizard' window will appear requesting your email address.
- Enter the email address provided to you by Afterglow Media into the 'E-mail address' text field.
- Click the 'Next' button.
- An 'Internet Connection Wizard' window will appear requesting your email server names.
- From the 'incoming email server' drop-down ensure POP3 is selected.
- In both the 'Incoming mail' and 'Outgoing mail' text fields enter the server names as provided by Afterglow Media. (Usually mail.yourdomain)
- Click the 'Next' button.
- An 'Internet Connection Wizard' window will appear requesting your email logon details.
- Enter your username and password as supplied by Afterglow Media into the text fields.
- NOTE: Your username will be your whole email address.
- If you feel secure that no one will access your computer without permission you may like to check 'Remember password'.
- Ensure that the 'Log on using Secure Password Authentication' is not checked.
- Click the 'Next' button.
- You will receive a confirmation window asking you to finalise the setup.
- Simply click the 'Finish' button.
- Now we just need to ensure your outgoing mail authentication is secure.
- On the 'Internet Accounts' window click the 'Properties' button.
- On the 'Properties' window that appears click on the 'Servers' tab.
- Check the checkbox under 'Outgoing Mail Server' stating 'My server requires authentication'.
- Click the 'OK' button and you are done.
