This guide will take you through the steps to set up your email account in Microsoft Outlook Express for Apple Macintosh version 5.

Step One

• Load up Outlook Express 5.
• Click 'Tools' then 'Accounts...'
   
  

Step Two

• On the 'Accounts' window Click the 'New' button.
   
  

Step Three

• An 'Account Setup Assistant' window will appear requesting your name.
• Enter the name you wish to appear on your emails into the 'Display name' text field.
• Click the 'Next' arrow.
   
  

Step Four

• An 'Account Setup Assistant' window will appear requesting your email address.
• Enter the email address provided to you by Afterglow Media into the 'E-mail address' text field.
• Click the 'Next' arrow.
   
  

Step Five

• An 'Account Setup Assistant' window will appear requesting your email server names.
• From the 'incoming email server' drop-down ensure POP is selected.
• In both the 'Incoming mail' and 'Outgoing mail' text fields enter the server names as provided by Afterglow Media. (Usually mail.yourdomain)
• Click the 'Next' arrow.
   
  

Step Six

• An 'Account Setup Assistant' window will appear requesting your email logon details.
• Enter your username and password as supplied by Afterglow Media into the text fields.
• NOTE: Your username will be your whole email address.
• If you feel secure that no one will access your computer without permission you may like to check 'Remember password'.
• Click the 'Next' arrow.
   
  

Step Seven

• You will receive a confirmation window asking you to finalise the setup.
• Simply enter a description for your email account into the 'Account name' text field.
• Click the 'Finish' button.
• Now we just need to ensure your outgoing mail authentication is secure.
   
  

Step Eight

• On the 'Accounts' window click the 'Edit' button.
   
  

Step Nine

• On the 'Edit Account' window that appears click the 'Click here for advanced sending options' button.
   
  

Step Ten

• A small popup window will appear.
• Check the checkbox 'SMTP server requires authentication'.
• Close the window and you are done.
• Your email is now setup in Outlook Express.
